This game was developed with Zavod Voluntariat and Zavod Dice to promote volunteering.
Voluntariat promotes peace, social justice, sustainable development, international cooperation and solidarity through volunteering. Its 24-month strategic EVS project, Itchy Feet, brought Slovenian and international volunteers together through local and international initiatives.
Created with volunteers and Zavod Dice as a thank-you and an inspiration for young people, this game is a tool for NGOs, youth workers and anyone who wants to use play to explore volunteering opportunities and the effects of volunteering on individuals.
The volunteer roles and skills in the game have been adapted to its mechanics and do not necessarily reflect the skills a real volunteering placement would provide.
We hope Itchy Feet helps young people build confidence and pursue volunteering projects at home and around the world.
As eager young people, you want new experiences and opportunities to learn. When a volunteering opportunity appears, the player who bids the most time takes it. Volunteering gives you skills; having the most skills in a group earns points. The player with the highest total wins — but winning is not everything: the experiences are what count. Where will your journey take you?
Players: 3–6
Recommended age: 10+
Playing time: 20 minutes
Contents: 21 volunteering cards, 5 Challenge cards, 5 Strategy cards, 108 time tokens, 2 different score sheets and rules. You can use beans or other counters instead of printing the time tokens.
